Ground reaction force analysis in traumatic transtibial amputees' gait.

چکیده
The study gives up findings of ground reaction force (GRF) measurement in traumatic transtibial amputees (TT) equipped with prosthesis. Results disclose significant asymmetries between the amputated and healthy legs, as well as between transtibial amputees and non-disabled persons. Decreased GRF of prosthesis (max. horizontal force Fx2 and medio-lateral Fy1 (p < 0.05), max. vertical force Fz1 during the loading response phase and Fz 3 - max. vertical force in late terminal stance; Fx 1 - max. horizontal force and Fy 2 - max. lateral force) were registered in comparison to healthy legs of amputees. The only exception represents vertical force Fz2 showing larger magnitude on prosthetic legs (p < 0.1). Nearly all forces (Fz1 and Fz3 - max. vertical force, Fx1 and Fx2 - max. horizontal forces and Fy1- max. medial force) were decreased for prosthetic legs in comparison to the healthy legs of amputees and to able-bodied persons.

Objective: Amputation of the lower limb due to loss of part of the musculoskeletal structure reduces performance and increases injury during locomotion. The effect of various types of prosthetic feet has been analyzed in several studies during running. The purpose of this study was a biomechanical analysis of the influence of SACH and Dynamic-Response foot on several kinetic variables in the st...

متن کاملGait in male trans-tibial amputees: a comparative study with healthy subjects in relation to walking speed.
Walking speed, stance duration and ground reaction forces were studied with the use of a stable force platform (Kistler) in 24 male transtibial amputees and 12 healthy subjects matched for sex and age. The aim of the study was to compare the gait performance of two groups with unilateral trans-tibial amputations for either vascular disease or trauma and also to compare the results of the two gr...
متن کاملEfficacy of shock-absorbing versus rigid pylons for impact reduction in transtibial amputees based on laboratory, field, and outcome metrics.
Prosthetic manufacturers have marketed shock-absorbing pylons (SAPs) for attenuation of injurious loads from foot-ground contact. In this study, we compared a commonly prescribed SAP with a conventional rigid pylon, using a within-subject design (n = 15 unilateral transtibial amputees), to assess effect on gait mechanics, measure transmitted accelerations in situ, and determine functional outco...
